About Me

Hi, I'm Mike Steinberger and welcome to my blog. I'm turning 50 this year and to celebrate my birthday I wanted to do something both special and challenging. Something that would combine my love of the outdoors, physical fitness and community service. Recently I came upon an article about how JFK challenged the US military and Americans to hike 50 miles in 20 hours as part of his Presidential Physical Fitness program. Apparently JFK got the idea from Theodore Roosevelt who ordered his officers to do the same. This sounded like the perfect way to celebrate a 50th birthday. So I'm planning a 50 mile hike for September 13th and 14th, 2008. I'm still developing the route but it will definitely go through the eastern part of Chester County into East Goshen and on into West Chester. In addition to challenging myself to complete the hike I'd like to challenge all of my family and friends to help me raise donations and awareness for some of the community organizations that are important to me. I'll have more info soon on the organizations I'm raising money for and how you can donate, so check back soon.

My Webpage is up and running!

Check out my webpage at

http://www.chescocf.org/Funds/Fund%20purpose/Mikes_Hike_purpose.htm

It gives you all sorts of information on my hike, the community organizations I'm raising money for and how you can donate either online or through the mail.

I'm really excited about linking up with Chester County Community Foundation to offer proper administration of Mike's Hike and to provide you with tax deductibility for your donations.
